Self Defense Seminar with Master Wood 7th Degree
Regions 5 are hosting a Self Defense seminar with Master Wood 7th Degree.
Master Wood has showed his expertise in Self defense within a multitude of Seminars all over the UK and is known for his vast knowledge for his self defense techniques.
This seminar will include:
Basic methods of self defense to Advance methods.
Releases, Grabs, Holds, Locks, Break falls and Ground work and also covering attracts by weapons including bottles, baseball bats, knifes and guns.
Seminar is open to all grades and ages.
On Saturday 16th August the Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy was lucky enough to have the pleasure of Master M Wood VIII Dan visiting. Master Wood came from Nottingham to help Mr Nick Overton V Dan with the new UKITF syllabus.
The mini seminar started at 1.30 with Master Wood saying a few words about not being nervous and reassuring all members that we are all here to learn from each other.
After this the lesson commenced with a light warm up before we started the main part of the seminar. The next hour was spent looking at the 7 different self defence drills that there are within the UKITF syablus.
To conclude, Master Wood ran through the 4 kicking drill. The first 2 the students participated in and the final 2 were demeostarted by Mr Nick Overton.
After the session had finished Master Wood stopped to answer questions and a light lunch was provided for all who attended by Mr David Martin.
As the instructor of the Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy I would like to extend a huge thank you to Master Wood for taking time to attend the seminar. Mr David Martin for providing the lunch and for setting the room up and all the other members of the South Leicester Taekwon-Do school who attended and made this a successful day.
I hope this is the first of many sessions that Master Wood will conduct and we at South Leicester Taekwon-Do look forward to training with him in Nottingham in the future.

At the Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy we have brought a new breaking horse. Below are some of the pictures when we first started to use it on Thursday 14th August 2014. Very well done all!
During the world Championships in July Master Nicholls VIII was promoted by Grandmaster Choi to IX (9th) Degree.
Congratulations Grandmaster Nicholls IX Dan.
Mr Overton VI Dan will be away on holiday from Monday 21st July until Monday 4th August. During these 2 weeks the sessions will be covered by Mr David Martin II Dan.

On Saturday 16th August the Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy is proud to welcome Master M Wood to Leicester to conduct a lesson. The lesson will take place at Southfield Drive community centre and is due to start at 1.30pm. The session is due to finish around 3pm and we will be covering; patterns, self defence and basic sparring
All are welcome, please come along and help make this a successful visit for Master Wood’s.

On saturday 28th june 20914 Mr Nick Overton V Dan and 4 members of the Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy travelled to Nottingham to participate in a Regional Master Seminar with Master Trevor Nicholls VIII Dan (Now IX Dan) and Master Michael Wood VII Dan (Now VIII Dan) .
During the seminar all particpants where pushed to their limits learning about 1 step sparring, sparring drills and then fishing off with some self defence and some basic moves.
The Leicester Taekwon-Do Academy would like to extend their thanks to Master Nicholls VIII Dan and Master Wood VII Dan for their technical expertise. Also we would like to thank Mrs Sarah Harris IV Dan for organising the event.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable seminar and one I hope will become a permeant fixture in the UKITF calendar.
